These Base Metal clasps are about 4000 gausse which is very strong...They hold togehter extremely well... Sterling Silver magnetic clasps are about 3000 gausse... If you are buying magnetic clasps always ask about strength as there are lots of cheaper ones out there but they are only 300-400 gausse which is absolutely useless for a clasp...OK for beads, but definately not a clasp.
